Tapas – Spain’s greatest food invention “Eat when you drink, drink when you eat” is the philosophy. Spanish men traditionally drink outside the home and rarely alone. They are not meant to be a meal. One tapa per person and a different one with each drink is the idea, then everyone enjoys tasting and sharing. Tapas food is real food – good local ingredients presented with flair.
The idea comes from Andalusia. It started, or so they say, with a piece of bread, soon topped with ham or cheese, balanced over a glass, to keep out the flies – the word tapa means a cover. They were once free snacks included in the price of the drink but today they are mostly ordered separately. In dim caverns, where the sherry barrels are stacked high, men revolve the wine in their copitas, gently sipping, then select a new wine from a different cask. To compare and contrast is part of the ritual. An old man may sit by the door, with a bucket of conchas finas, opening the clams slowly and to order.

On February 18th, 2016 at Bethlehem Brew Works, Beer Historian & Brewer Christopher Bowen and award-winning Brew Master Beau Baden brewed “Goundie’s Old Monocacy Ale”, an English Style Old Ale derived from a historic recipe circa 1815. The beer was brewed in honor of city of Bethlehem’s 275th Anniversary!
The historic brew will be officially tapped at 6pm at the main bar at Bethlehem Brew Works. A limited amount of commemorative 750ml corked & caged bottles and gift packs – perfect for Father’s Day Gift giving – will be available for purchase at the brewery.

Meet former Brew Master Beau Baden, Beer Historian and Brewer Christopher Bowen, Fegley’s Brew Works head brewer Mike Wieboldt, and other members of the Fegley brewery team.
In the style of British Old Ales, smoked biscuit, floor malted, Maris Otter English Malts and Hops were used. Fire roasted barley and a special ingredient called Essentia Bina – think homemade molasses – were used in the brewing process. Check out Bowen’s Facebook Page for pictures of Essentia Bina – smoking the sugar, boiling over a fire for hours before setting the pot on fire, adding color and a peat like taste. ‘Old Ale’ is a somewhat sweet, rich and full bodied.

The limited release F.B.I.P.A. was brewed privately at Fegley’s Allentown Brew Works. When the story about this new Black IPA was leaked by an unknown source, it caused a frenzy, putting it on the Most Wanted List. Some feel that the F.B.I.P.A. should be under investigation for its unique flavor profile, however, bottles and kegs have already been sent to select locations and the beer is ready to be released on November 10th, 2016. There’s no stopping this wayward brew!

There will be sessions at 4PM, 5:30PM and 7PM. Each session can accommodate 15 participants each (Pirates Chamber fits up to 5; Alchemy Lab up to 10). Since you’ll need to sign in and learn the rules of the game, please arrive 20 minutes prior to your session.

The escape room is located on the bottom floor of The Commons, across from The Steelgaarden at Fegley’s Brew Works.
Join us afterward for our Comedy Showcase Night at 8:30pm! This event is open to everyone (not just Mug Club Members) and will showcase some of our best acts at $10 a ticket. Headliner and opening acts will be announced soon!
You can also enjoy $3 Mug Fills (Mug Club Members only) that evening and provide an hour of light appetizers between 8-9PM.

The 2017 Puttle Golf Championship will be held during the Cask Beer Fest at the Allentown Brew Works. Winners in both the Golfer and Non-Golfer categories will be awarded cash, prizes and “The Tankard” for lowest score. $1 entry fee for those in attendance will be donated to the Boys+Girls Clubs of the LV. Traditionally, cask beers are naturally carbonated by yeast being added during a second fermentation rather than adding CO2. Casks can be gravity drawn typically from barrels laying horizontally, or from typical looking ”kegs” that have been naturally carbonated. If you preordered our Bourbon Barrel Coffee Stout, then you can come and pick up your bottle(s) at either Fegley’s Allentown or Bethlehem Brew Works on April 2nd. Brewed with 160 pounds of the blackest of black coffee, this EXCLUSIVE stout is deliciously dangerous. With an ABV of 13%, this silky smooth coffee stout will even give the biggest coffee addicts quite the perk. To finish it off, this stout was aged in freshly dumped Woodford Reserve barrels, adding the perfect amount of bourbon flavor.
We’re excited to celebrate the 19th Anniversary of Fegley’s Bethlehem Brew Works this Saturday, April 15th. We’ll be featuring food specials all day and releasing our 19th Anniversary Ale. This limited release “IPL with a little bit of A (ale)” was brewed with an abundance of Amarillo, Centennial, and Cascade hops.
