Tapas – Spain’s greatest food invention “Eat when you drink, drink when you eat” is the philosophy. Spanish men traditionally drink outside the home and rarely alone. They are not meant to be a meal. One tapa per person and a different one with each drink is the idea, then everyone enjoys tasting and sharing. Tapas food is real food – good local ingredients presented with flair.
The idea comes from Andalusia. It started, or so they say, with a piece of bread, soon topped with ham or cheese, balanced over a glass, to keep out the flies – the word tapa means a cover. They were once free snacks included in the price of the drink but today they are mostly ordered separately. In dim caverns, where the sherry barrels are stacked high, men revolve the wine in their copitas, gently sipping, then select a new wine from a different cask. To compare and contrast is part of the ritual. An old man may sit by the door, with a bucket of conchas finas, opening the clams slowly and to order.

For this event you have two choices of projects. You can either create your own original painting on a 12 x 12 wrapped canvas using Acrylic Paint or paint on a large clear glass plate using special acrylics that once cured (at home) will be dishwasher safe! You will be painting on the backside of the plate so the image shows through.

The 2017 Puttle Golf Championship will be held during the Cask Beer Fest at the Allentown Brew Works. Winners in both the Golfer and Non-Golfer categories will be awarded cash, prizes and “The Tankard” for lowest score. $1 entry fee for those in attendance will be donated to the Boys+Girls Clubs of the LV. Midnight comes early at our kid friendly New Years Eve CelebrationFrom 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at our High Gravity Lounge, we’ll have kids movies and music on the big screen with sparkling cider after the big countdown to “midnight” (7:00 pm).
To make sure no one’s celebrating on an empty stomach, we’ll have our regular menus available to order from.
At the Allentown Brew Works, our High Gravity Lounge will be reserved for families only so parents can relax in a family friendly environment and kids can be kids. Our bar will also be open for parents to enjoy.

Come join the Brew Works own Beerman in this classic tournament style poker night with no buy ins and blinds raised every 15 minutes until there is a winner.
