Our project and how we did it: We all sat in circle feeling out what must be done. Sweat lodged singing and moaning to burn off urban energies. Took a walk to find what the woods wanted to say.

Getting naked is an Ordeal and in the frigid woods and the arctic pool our sacrifice was to nature and in ritual display. We did it.

We took a Vision Quest for Jaka who had the proper gravitas and respect for our submission to the elements. The stress on our faces is a divine stress not the urban rat race.

This is the edge of survival.

Naked means the weather really penetrates and you are in the thick of it. So there is theater in each pose, once you realize it wasn’t summer, oh no, it was not summer.

And nature said YES.

About Art Works

Spun off from the Allentown Art Mart (a pop-up “buy local” store which has featured over 45 different different local artists and crafters since its inception in 2009), the Allentown Art Works is housed inside Fegley’s Burrito Works and Coffee Works with artist exhibitions rotating on a monthly basis. It is conveniently located right next to the Allentown Brew Works so we hope you will browse the creations on your way through.

Each month will be curated by a different local artist, giving them the “keys” to the gallery allowing them to choose their own theme and participating artists!
