Big Bad Barleywine Released

December 5th, 2008 | ,

After a long aging process we are proud to release one of our favorite beers. Big Bad Barleywine is a strong ale with Luscious sweet malt flavor backed by a enormous dose of hops creating a complex beer with hints of ripe fruit (cherries, green apples) and a piney/citrus aroma. Due to the strength of this brew 9.5% we will be serving it in a 12oz snifter. Stop on in and give this great brew a taste.
Style Description:
Despite its name, a Barleywine (or Barley Wine) is very much a beer, albeit a very strong and often intense beer! In fact, it’s one of the strongest of the beer styles. Lively and fruity, sometimes sweet, sometimes bittersweet, but always alcoholic. A brew of this strength and complexity can be a challenge to the palate. Expect anything from an amber to dark brown colored beer, with aromas ranging from intense fruits to intense hops. Body is typically thick, alcohol will definitely be perceived, and flavors can range from dominant fruits to palate smacking, resiny hops.

Most Barleywines can be cellared for years and typically age like wine.

NOTE: Big Bad Barleywine will be available in Allentown only. Once the Bourbon Barrel Batch is finished aging, THAT will be available at BOTH locations. So come down to Hamilton Street to warm your tummy with this one.
Happy Holidays!
