Be Our Brewer For A Day Festival is Tomorrow!

August 22nd, 2013 |

Join us tomorrow evening for the Be Our Brewer For a Day Festival.

The  festival is being held as a way to raise funds and awareness with proceeds from all ticket sales to be given to Lehigh Valley Beer Week 2014, a 501(c)6 organization. Last year, organizers of Lehigh Valley Beer Week held a similar competition with the Allentown Brew Works to support Lehigh Valley Beer Week 2013, which proved so popular that it has been expanded to a full-fledged festival this August.

After tallying the entries, Lehigh Valley Beer Week was thrilled with the overwhelming response from local homebrewers. Jesse Albertson, co-founder of Lehigh Valley Beer Week said, “We looked at the total number of entrants and did a double take. We have over 50 homebrewers coming in to showcase their best brews.”

Along with a lofty list of homebrewers, a handful of established craft breweries will be on hand including Dogfish Head, Great Lakes, and Stoudt’s. Also, many Lehigh Valley Beer Week participating restaurants will be on hand to supply food for the crowd of beer enthusiasts.

This festival differs from other homebrew competitions in that the winning brewer will be decided, that night, by the ticket holders and not by a small panel of judges. Albertson said, “We always envisioned Lehigh Valley Beer Week as run by the community and for the community. In that spirit, we decided to let the people decide what the flagship beer of the second Lehigh Valley Beer Week should be.” The winning homebrewer will be invited back to Fegley’s Allentown Brew Works in January to brew their award winning concoction with Fegley’s Brew Master, Beau Baden. The beer will be dubbed ‘LVBW2’ and will be distributed to bars and restaurants participating in Lehigh Valley Beer Week.
